Now XLTE Ready

 

Verizon has officially turned on their Advanced Wireless Service (AWS) spectrum, dubbed “XLTE”. Although this transition over to the AWS spectrum is an invisible move to users, the service provides double the bandwidth and faster peak speeds in XLTE Cities.

The XLTE network is currently available in nearly 250 cities across the US, and works with all of Verizon’s XLTE Ready devices. These XLTE Ready devices will now be able to access both the 700 MHz spectrum (traditional 4G LTE) and the new AWS spectrum in these XLTE cities. However, if your device is not XLTE Ready don’t worry, as Verizon expects you to see some improvements as well, considering that the XLTE devices will move over to the AWS spectrum leaving more bandwidth available on the 700 MHz space.
